Case File 40

That's Not the Shed

A court order, a photograph, and a matching description should have made this an easy recovery. Instead, it turned into an hour-long argument, three police officers, and one very stubborn shed.

Episode 40Property Repossession, Police2026-06-22

Armed with a court order to repossess a storage shed after years of nonpayment, a constable and his helper arrive expecting a routine property recovery. The shed matches the court paperwork, the description, and even the photograph provided with the order. There is only one problem: the family insists it is the wrong shed.

What follows is a lengthy standoff involving police officers, heated debates, and repeated claims that the constable has made a mistake. Matters become even more complicated when the family reveals a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and other belongings are stored inside. After a practical compromise is reached, the family spends thirty minutes clearing the shed while continuing to argue their case.

That's Not the Shed is a true story about court-ordered property recovery, patience under pressure, and what happens when everyone is convinced they're right. In the end, after all the debate, the photograph, the description, and the court order proved correct.

It was, in fact, the shed.
