Case File 4

The Elevator

A simple service inside an apartment building should have taken only a few minutes. Then the elevator doors opened. Sometimes the hardest part of the job isn't finding the person—it's surviving the ride.

Episode 4Awkward timing

Apartment buildings are usually routine. Find the unit, knock on the door, complete the service, and move on to the next stop.

This building was different.

As Alan stepped into the elevator, he quickly realized that the trip upstairs was going to be far more memorable than the actual service. Trapped in a small metal box with an overwhelming and mysterious odor, every second felt longer than the last.

The papers were served without incident, but the elevator ride became the part of the day nobody could forget.

The Constable Files – Episode 4: The Elevator is a true story proving that some of the strangest challenges in civil process work have nothing to do with court papers and everything to do with where those papers take you.

Sometimes the shortest ride can feel like the longest journey.
